SMS group, Arkansas College Form Partnership on Steelmaking School
02/07/2018 - SMS group and Arkansas Northeastern College, a community college based in Blytheville, Ark., USA, have formalized plans to establish a steelmaking training program.
Called the Arkansas Steelmaking Academy, the program will be housed at Arkansas Northeastern’s new Center for Allied Technologies and will become the North American training hub for SMS.
“We are both pleased and excited about this partnership between (the college) and SMS group. Not only will this help our customer base in North America, but the Arkansas Steelmaking Academy can be a launching point in training the future generations of steelworkers with knowledge in the latest technology in steelmaking and processing,” said Doug Dunworth, president and chief executive of SMS group’s technical services unit in the U.S.
The academy is to begin offering classes in 2019.
