SMS Demag to Supply Coiler for Ternium Siderar

Ternium Siderar, Argentina, has awarded to an order to SMS Demag to supply a new downcoiler for its hot strip mill in San Nicolas, close to Buenos Aires.
 
Extension of the coiler group by a third unit is an important module for Ternium Siderar, as it will help to increase its production in the long term. The new coiler will also help to increase coil quality and enhance the plant's availability factor.
 
The new, fully hydraulic coiler is rated for a maximum strip width of 1525 mm and strip gages of up to 19 mm. It will also enable Ternium Siderar to coil pipe grades of strength category X80 up to a thickness of 14 mm.
 
All revamp measures will be performed during ongoing production and during regular maintenance shutdowns. The new unit is scheduled to go into service in January 2010.
 
Ternium Siderar belongs to the Ternium group, the largest producer of flat-rolled steel in Latin America, having production facilities in Argentina, Venezuela, and Mexico.
 
SMS group is, under the holding SMS GmbH, a group of companies internationally active in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the steel and nonferrous metals industry.
