SMS-Built Crimping Press Enters Service
12/05/2019 - voestalpine Tubulars has started up a new three-die crimping press on its cross piercing elongating line in Austria, according to machine builder SMS group.
According to SMS, the new press replaces an older unit that SMS built for voestalpine 21 years ago.
“The new press … will assure voestalpine Tubulars an increase in plant availability and higher yield. With the new press, the company will be able to further optimize crimping geometries and reduce set-up times. The entire crimping cycle – performed in combination with the associated auxiliary equipment – has been reduced to just 17 seconds,” SMS group said.
