SMA President to Retire At Year-End
02/01/2013 - The Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) Board of Directors announced that Thomas A. Danjczek, president of the SMA for the past 15 years, intends to retire at the end of 2013.
The Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) Board of Directors announced that Thomas A. Danjczek, president of the SMA for the past 15 years, intends to retire at the end of 2013. Mr. Danjczek has served as president of the SMA since February 1998. Mr. Danjczek will become an advisor to the SMA’s new president and board after his retirement.
John Ferriola, SMA’s chairman and chairman and CEO of Nucor Corporation, stated, “Tom has had an outstanding record of achievement at the SMA growing the organization and adding value to the membership in safety, environment, trade, energy, transportation, and other public policy matters. He has been an enthusiastic and effective advocate for our minimill industry.”
The SMA Board has initiated its search for a new SMA president which will be completed in 2013.
The SMA is the primary trade association for EAF steel producers, often referred to as minimills. SMA’s members account for 75% of total U.S. steel capacity
