SMA Names Gleason Manager of Member Services

The decision was announced at the recent SMA Board of Directors meeting held in Indianapolis, Ind.
 
Ms. Gleason joined the SMA in May 2013. Her areas of focus include managing all SMA membership activities, services and programs, including the development of the organization’s social media presence. She has worked extensively in support of the SMA’s Safety, Environment, Human Resources, Plant Operations, and Transportation committees. Her areas of policy focus include labor and industrial relations, workforce development, and the Buy America Act.
 
Prior to joining the SMA, Ms. Gleason served as a research assistant at the American Continental Group, a Washington, D.C.-based public affairs and strategic consulting firm. She is a California native, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies from UCLA and a Master of Arts in European Union Politics from James Madison University.
 

SMA is the primary trade association for North American electric arc furnace steel producers, often referred to as minimills.  SMA’s 31 member companies account for over seventy-five percent of total domestic steel production.
