SMA Honors Vallourec Executive
06/08/2017 - The Steel Manufacturers Association has recognized a Vallourec USA executive for his work on public policy enabling the U.S. steel and pipe industry.
Doug Polk, the company’s vice president for industry affairs and communications, was presented with the association’s James Collins Award during its annual members conference in Washington, D.C., USA.
The award recognizes Polk’s efforts in advocating public policy changes that serve the domestic steel and pipe industry. At Vallourec, Polk is responsible for the company’s North American industry relations activities as well as its North American communications.
He serves as a board member for several industry and trade associations, including the National Ocean Industries Association, the American Petroleum Institute’s general membership committee, the Steel Manufacturers Association, the Committee on Pipe and Tube Imports, the American Association of Drilling Engineers and the Petroleum Equipment & Services Association.
Polk holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Lyon College and an M.B.A. from Tulane University in Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1972 to 1974.
