Skyline Steel Adding Straight-Seam Welding to Mississippi Plant
08/18/2016 - Pilings maker Skyline Steel is investing US$15 million in its Iuka, Miss., plant to add additional pipe-making capabilities.
The facility makes large-diameter, spiral-welded pipe for use in construction applications, such as foundations bridge and piers. With the investment, Skyline will be able to make straight-seam pipe for use in the same applications, according to an announcement from the Mississippi Development Authority.
The authority said it provided assistance to the project, but didn’t elaborate.
“(The authority) is glad to support Skyline Steel as the company increases is product line in Tishomingo County and creates new career opportunities for the people of northeast Mississippi,” said the authority’s executive director, Glenn McCullough Jr., in a statement.
Skyline is a unit of North Carolina-based Nucor Corp.
