Siemens Receives New Order for Dry Dedusting System in China

A steel producer from Northern China has ordered a dry dedusting system from Siemens VAI Metals Technologies that is to be installed in an LD steel works. After commissioning, which is scheduled for fall 2010, the steel works will meet European standard emission limits, according to Siemens.

The project also includes a gas recovery system that collects and treats the converter gas for subsequent power generation. The Chinese steel producer operates LD (BOF) converters, with a tapping weight of more than 100 tonnes.

Five similar systems from Siemens have come into operation in China in the last six months.

Siemens VAI is supplying the complete mechanical equipment, including the evaporation cooler, electrostatic precipitator, induced-draft fan with drive unit, and gas switchover station including hydraulics, flare stack, gas cooler, and gas analysis system. The scope of supply also includes the associated electrical and automation equipment.

Siemens VAI will supervise production, installation, testing, and commissioning of the plant.

The company has equipped 10 steel works in China with dedusting and gas recovery systems, and another project is currently under construction.
