Siemens Providing High Accuracy Slitting Line to Anshan Iron and Steel

This production line will be installed in an Anshan plant in southern China for cutting high-quality cold strip for the automotive industry.
This project will be the first application of a capstan type slitter head, an advanced technology for fast tooling change operations, for Siemens in the Chinese market. The tooling change system is compatible with the automatic tool loading robot, which will ensure better reliability and flexibility of production. A special belt unit will provide the back tension required for scratch free operation.
The slitting line is scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2014.
The scope of the supply from Siemens Metals Technologies for this project includes process technology, mechanical equipment, automation engineering, as well as all equipment used in this production line. Siemens will also be responsible for supervising installation and commissioning.
The line is designed for processing automotive inner and outer panels with surface quality A (O3) and B (O5). The maximum strip width is 1850-mm, thickness 0.3- to 2-mm, and tensile strength up to 800 Mpa. The maximum number of slits is 30 cuts. The recoiling back tension is provided by scratch less belt tension device from Siemens design.
Anshan Iron and Steel Group is planning to increase capacity of automotive steel to fulfill the requirements of the booming automotive industry in China. The company also announced to further invest in service centers in China to build up competences close to end users.
