Siemens Expands Compact CPU Line with Failsafe Functions
06/04/2015 - Siemens popular Simatic® S7-1200 line of compact controllers now includes both standard and failsafe functionality, delivering new levels of safety for standalone, simple machine control applications.
Achievable Safety Integrity Level SIL3 complies with IEC 61508 2nd Edition / PL e (Performance Level) to ISO 13849.
The new Simatic S7 1214FC and S7 1215FC controllers and corresponding failsafe I/O modules offer compact, powerful and cost effective failsafe control. The scalable controllers provide fast throughput with easily reproduced control cabinets.
The controllers’ TÜV-certified Failsafe-library handles all conventional safety functions. Enhanced standard and safety diagnostics reduce downtime. Safety relevant documentation is provided with a standard-compliant Failsafe-Program printout.
Both failsafe controllers are DC/DC/DC or DC/DC/Rly variant. They include 24 integrated standard inputs/outputs and an integrated Ethernet interface. Expandable up to eight standard or fail-safe signal modules, the controllers feature one signal board, up to three communication modules (CM), two integrated 0 to 10 V standard analog inputs and two 0 to 20 mA analog outputs.
The TIA Portal option package Simatic Step 7 Safety Basic V13 SP1 includes many new engineering functions and supports the portfolio of failsafe S7 1200 controllers.
