Ship Builder Orders Straightening Machine from Fives
01/30/2017 - A cruise ship builder has awarded a contract to industrial engineer Fives for a Bronx straightening machine, the company announced on Monday.
The order, from Finland’s Meyer Turku, is for a 13-roll straightening machine that will process bulb flats in widths of up to 220 mm. Bulb flats are a specialty profile and are used to stiffen plate.
Fives said its straightening machines come equipped with its computer-aided setting system that automatically calculates the optimum roll settings and adjusts the rolls to the proper position.
The straightener is to be installed and commissioned this summer.
