Severstal's Cherepovets Mill Delivers Record Production of Galvanized Color-Coated Steel
07/31/2013 - The Cherepovets Steel Mill, one of the world’s largest integrated steel mills and part of the Russian Steel division of OAO Severstal, announced that it delivered record production of more than 38,000 tonnes of galvanized color-coated steel in June.
Andrei Lutsenko, operations officer and chief engineer at the Cherepovets Steel Mill commented: “Our production of 38,036 tonnes of galvanized color-coated metal in June is a record achievement and is testament to the work of our teams since the beginning of the year. Over the past six months, production of galvanized colour-coated metal has reached approximately 213,000 tonnes, an increase of 17% over the same period in 2012.”
The output increase can be attributed to a number of factors, including high quality production using leading-edge technology, the use of high quality zinc coating and the company’s cooperation with top European polymer producers.
The launch of a new brand of products dubbed Steel Silk this year has also helped deliver increased sales. Steel Silk is a specialized galvanized color-coated roofing metal and for the first time Severstal is offering a warranty period of up to 25 years for this type of coating.
