Severstal North America wins national award
06/23/2014 - Severstal North America has been honored for its scrap purchase operations at the Columbus plant
The Award for Steel Excellence was presented to the company during American Metal Market's Steel Success Strategies conference last week in New York City.
The award was given to Severstal Columbus in the Best Operational Improvement category.
The company manfuctures rolled steel at the plant and the award was presented because the scrap purchase and optimization project resulted in significant savings for the company.
The program helped the company achieve a performance milestone in performance, delivering a record-breaking $113 per metric ton.
