Severstal North America Steps Up Sustainable Sourcing Practices
10/24/2013 - Severstal North America recently joined two of the most renowned sustainability organizations in operations and sourcing, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI).
This effort allows Severstal to take its existing purchasing practices to the next level and become an industry leader in transparent and sustainable sourcing standards.
“We are committed to the highest ethical, social and environmental standards in all areas of our sourcing value chain,” said Gerrit Reepmeyer, vice president, procurement, Severstal North America. “We believe that only a sustainable and responsible approach to operating practices can create long-term value for our customers.”
Severstal’s sustainable sourcing standards for its suppliers focus on three key areas:
