Severstal North America Named Dearborn Business of the Year
04/19/2013 - Severstal North America has been named “Business of the Year” by the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce.
Severstal North America, a U.S. subsidiary of Russia’s OAO Severstal, has been named “Business of the Year” by the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We have been proud to call Dearborn our home for almost 100 years. Working alongside the community, improving the environment, and making our operations safer and more efficient have been our top business priorities. Severstal employees have donated their time and energy to make this community a better place to live and work, and we appreciate the Chamber’s recognition of our efforts,” said Sergei Kuznetsov, CEO of Severstal North America.
As one of the largest steel producers in the United States — with facilities in Dearborn, Mich., and Columbus, Miss. — responsible corporate citizenship is a key business priority for Severstal, the Chamber says. The company has invested over US$3 billion in modernizing its assets and has some of the most efficient and environmentally friendly steelmaking facilities in the world. Charitable donations and employee volunteer activities are focused in the local communities in several key areas, including community enrichment and education, arts and culture, and environment, the Chamber says.
