Severstal NA to Restart Yorkville Cold Mill

OAO Severstal announced that Severstal Wheeling, Inc.’s Yorkville, Ohio, cold rolling mill will resume operations on December 13 in response to increasing demand for cold rolled and coated products.

Idled since June 2009, the Yorkville cold mill will help Severstal North America expand its cold rolling capacity and better balance overall supply and finishing capabilities. It will be used to finish sheet steel made at Severstal Sparrows Point for delivery to customers and Severstal Wheeling's Martins Ferry coating operation.

The company said the number of employees to be recalled would depend on production demand.
