Severstal Columbus Wins AMM Award for Best Operational Improvement
07/10/2014 - Severstal North America was pleased to receive the Award for Steel Excellence from American Metal Market in New York City.
Madhu Ranade, vice president and general manager, Severstal Columbus, accepted the award on behalf of the company and acknowledged the entire Severstal team and all of its employees who made it possible.
The award, which recognizes the accomplishments, innovation and excellence in the metals industry, was given to Severstal Columbus in Best Operational Improvement category. Its innovative scrap purchase and use optimization project resulted in significant savings for the company.
Earlier this year Severstal Columbus achieved an important milestone in its performance delivering a record-breaking US$102.50 EBITDA per net ton (US$113 per metric ton) as a result of operational and business improvements.
“We appreciate the award and the recognition from the steel community. It was truly a team effort with multiple parts of the organization contributing to the overall success of the project. This is also another testament to the transformation of the organization that is taking place at Severstal North America currently. Congratulations to the team of Columbus for a job well done,” commented Saikat Dey, CEO of Severstal North America.
