September Steel Shipments Down 4.3% from August
11/18/2011 - U.S. steel mills shipped 7,947,262 net tons for the month of September 2011, a 4.3% decrease from the 8,304,638 net tons shipped in the previous month according to the latest report from AISI.
U.S. steel mills shipped 7,947,262 net tons for the month of September 2011, according to the latest report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The September total represents a 4.3% decrease from the 8,304,638 net tons shipped in the previous month, August 2011, and an 11.3% increase from the 7,140,369 net tons shipped in September 2010.
Year-to-date shipments in 2011 are 68,441,207 tons, an 8.4% increase vs. 2010 shipments of 63,154,585 through the first nine months. 2011 shipments through September would annualize at 91 million tons.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes:
· Hot dip galvanized sheets and strip, + 1%
· Hot rolled sheet, - 1%
· Cold rolled sheet, - 4%
