September Steel Shipments down 1.2% from August
11/17/2010 - U.S. steel mills shipped 7,140,369 net tons for the month of September 2010, a 1.2% decrease from the previous month’s shipments and a 23.3% increase from the 5,792,608 net tons shipped in September 2009, according to the latest report from AISI.
U.S. steel mills shipped 7,140,369 net tons for the month of September 2010, according to the latest report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The September total represents a 1.2% decrease from the 7,224,190 net tons shipped in the previous month (August 2010) and a 23.3% increase from the 5,792,608 net tons shipped in September 2009.
For the year to date, shipments are 63,154,585, a 47.6% increase vs. shipments of 42,790,747 for the comparable year-ago period. 2010 shipments through September would annualize at 84.2 million tons.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes:
· Cold rolled sheet, +5%
· Hot dip galvanized sheet and strip, +3%
· Hot rolled sheet, +3%
