Second Danieli Superflexible Bar and Rod Mill in Operation at Kroman Çelik
12/17/2008 - Kroman Çelik completes startup of its new Danieli superflexible bar and rod mill, with the commissioning of its high-speed wire rod line.
Danieli recently announced the completion of startup for Kroman Çelik’s new 500,000 tonnes/year superflexible bar and rod mill, with the commissioning of its high-speed wire rod line.
The new 120 tonnes/hour Rolling Mill No. 2 mill is arranged over 20 rolling stands in continuous, straight bar production outlet and a high-speed wire rod line with 10-pass finishing block and wire rod controlled-cooling line. Startup for the mill had begun earlier in the year, with operation of the straight bar production outlet.
As with the company’s Rolling Mill No. 1, the new plant is directly connected to the six-strand Danieli conticaster for hot charging of billets. The product range is 8- to 50-mm deformed (or up to 75-mm plain) bars, 5.5- to 20-mm plain (or up to 16-mm deformed) wire rod in coils up to 3.4 tonnes, in low- to high-carbon and engineering steels.
Danieli Automation supplied electricals, automation and process control systems.
Kroman Çelik has operated Rolling Mill No. 1, which was also supplied by Danieli, at its Gebze facility, which is near Istanbul, since 2006.
