SDI Receives MCA Chairman's Award
12/12/2013 - Steel Dynamics Inc. and one of its customers, Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp. of Louisville, were among the metals-related companies to receive the Metal Construction Association’s (MCA) 2013 Chairman’s Award for Overall Excellence during this year’s Metalcon International convention in Atlanta.
The award was received for the construction of three academic buildings and a central plant on Central Arizona College’s Maricopa campus. SDI produced the durable, long-lasting A606 “weathering steel” that was then provided to the project by Metal Sales.
“Receiving this award demonstrates SDI’s growth in the metal construction industry,” said Don Switzer, marketing manager for construction at the Flat Roll Division. “And it continues to highlight the value-added products we bring to the marketplace.”
The annual Chairman’s Awards are given to outstanding building projects involving MCA members. The awards recognize innovation and creativity and showcase how metal products can help achieve outstanding building designs. Recipients are selected from projects submitted by MCA members to Metal Architecture magazine’s annual Design Awards Program. A panel of judges including experienced architects and industry professionals make the selections.
In addition to the Overall Excellence designation, awards are presented in individual categories for metal roofing, commercial/industrial, municipal, institutional, educational, and residential.
