Scrap Metal Services Hires New Vice President of Human Resources and In-House Counsel

Ms. Davidson was previously with the law firm of Levenfeld Pearlstein, LLC for over 14 years and has practiced as a labor and employment attorney in Chicago for almost 10 years. She has been part of two labor and employment practice groups ranked among the best in Chicago and the Nation by U.S. News and World Report and was designated by Illinois Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in her practice area for 2010, 2011 and 2012.
“As we continue our focused expansion and resultant increase in the number of employees at SMS, we are pleased to have such an experienced professional join our team at this time”, stated Jeffry Gertler, CEO.
Before practicing in a law-firm environment, Ms. Davidson worked in-house handling labor and employee relations at Rush University Medical Center and as a labor relations representative and EEO specialist at Northern Indiana Public Service Co. She is a SPHR certified professional and obtained her law degree from Valparaiso University, with a certification in labor and employment law. Having lived and worked overseas in Perth, Western Australia, she also will provide SMS with an international perspective in the growing global scrap and steel marketplace.
Ms. Davidson has taught many seminars for continuing legal education and human resources certification providers. She contributes to several treatises published by the Labor and Employment division of the American Bar Association, including the Developing Labor Law and Age Discrimination in Employment Law. She has also written legal updates for the National Academy of Arbitrators and authored articles for industry journals.
Ms. Davidson is a founding and current member of the Board of Ambassadors and served on the executive committee as the nominating chair of the Future Leaders Council – two auxiliary boards of the Chicago YWCA, which is dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women.
