Schuff International Inc. announced that it intends to sell its Schuff Steel-Pacific fabrication facility in National City, Calif., (San Diego area) and consolidate the operations into expanded fabrication facilities in the Phoenix area.
"Schuff Steel will continue to have a presence in the San Diego area, consisting of sales and marketing teams as well as estimators and project managers for new and existing projects," said Scott A. Schuff, president and CEO of Schuff International. "The dramatic growth of the retail areas in the National City area has created a high level of interest in our property. The value of this property will enable us to fund the move to expanded fabrication facilities in Phoenix. Additionally, our Phoenix fabrication facilities have the expertise, capacity and state-of-the-art technology to create exciting synergies to better serve our Southern California customers."
Designed to provide improved operational effectiveness, the move is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2005. It will result in the layoff of approximately 80 employees at the National City facility.
