In a statement, Schenk said it will install the system on the plant’s hot strip mill, pickling line and tandem cold mill, galvanizing line, and paint line. 

“The multi-channel inspection systems (including Virtual 3D and Side-Lighting) will be provided with AI-based software suite including MIDA-X for enhanced defect detection and classification; strip width measurement and reporting; and high-level surface quality analysis and quantification for conditions such as roughness, clarity, coating and paint uniformity,” the company said. 

In addition to the system, Schenk will design and fabricate support frames and provide project management and technical support throughout start-up and commissioning.
