In a statement, Schenk Vision said it will equip each of the mill’s steel production and process lines with its inspection equipment.

The system features an AI-based software suite; strip width measurement and reporting; high-level surface quality analysis and quantification for conditions such as roughness, clarity, coating and paint uniformity; and automatic, real-time coil grading. 

In addition to supplying the automated inspection equipment, Schenk Vision also will design and fabricate the system support frames and provide project management and technical support throughout start-up and commissioning. 

Located in Sinton, Texas, the EAF-based greenfield facility will be capable of producing 3 million tons of sheet and plate annually.
