Salzgitter Bags Order from Offshore Gas Pipeline
04/20/2016 - Germany’s Salzgitter Group has won an order for 71,000 metric tons of large-diameter pipe from the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project, the company has announced.
The order, which is for 36-inch diameter pipe, pipe components and coating services, is bound for an offshore, 110-kilometer leg of the natural gas pipeline. The pipeline will link Italy and Europe to the Shah Deniz II gas field under the Caspian Sea, off the shores of Azerbaijan.
The pipe will be made by Salzgitter joint venture EUROPIPE.
Delivery is to begin in the third quarter of 2016. The company said the order, in combination with others, will ensure solid capacity utilization rate through mid-2018.
The company already holds the supply contract for the pipeline’s onshore leg, a 270-kilometer stretch requiring 170,000 metric tons of large-diameter pipe.
