Salzgitter AG takes over Stahl-Metall-Service Gesellschaft für Bandverarbeitung mbH

Salzgitter AG has signed an agreement to take over Stahl-Metall-Service Gesellschaft für Bandverarbeitung mbH (Stahl-Metall-Service).
 
Salzgitter said its acquisition of Stahl-Metall-Service will complement the Group’s existing steel service center activities in Schwerte, North-Rhine Westphalia, through the addition of existing facilities in southern Germany. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
 
According to Salzgitter, Stahl-Metall-Service has a reputation of for the highest quality and special precision in steel strip processing going back to 1988. With a current workforce of around 110 employees, the company has operated cutting-edge production facilities in Karlsruher Rheinhafen since 2008.
 
Stahl-Metall-Service supplies customers across a range of industries and applications, including the automotive, mechanical engineering and electronics sectors, along with ventilation and air conditioning technology, to mention a few. The company generated sales of € 135 million and shipments in excess of 200,000 tons in 2010.
 
Through its sustainable organic and external growth, Salzgitter AG company has become one of Europe’s leading steel and technology groups – with external sales of more than € 8 billion in 2010, a crude steel capacity of approximately 8 million tonnes and a workforce of  25,000 employees.
