SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant Sets New Production Records
01/14/2011 - Steel Authority of India’s Bhilai Steel Plant has set a new record in its Steel Melting Shop II with the production of 11,350 tonnes of crude steel on January 7, the facility’s highest-ever production of crude steel in one day.
Steel Authority of India’s Bhilai Steel Plant has set a new record in its Steel Melting Shop II with its highest-ever production of crude steel in one day.
On January 7, the shop recorded 96 heats and 11,350 tonnes of crude steel, which compares to the facility’s previous best of 94 heats and 11,130 tonnes of crude steel in one day on March 27, 2009.
The facility’s Slab and Bloom Storage Yard also recorded best-ever loading of 3550 tonnes on January 7, which compares to the facility’s previous best of 2520 tonnes on February 14, 2009.
The plant’s Refractory Materials Plant II also made a new one-day record with 520 tonnes of lime supplied to SMS II on January 7, which compares to a previous best of 475 tonnes on March 27, 2009. The supply of 1029 tonnes of total flux (i.e. lime and calcined dolomite) to SMS II and SP III was also a highest-ever tonnage, as compared to the previous best of 964 tonnes on May 30, 2009.
