SAIL to Regain Position as India's Leading Producer
09/21/2017 - The Steel Authority of India (SAIL) is preparing to blow in its newest blast furnace – and reclaim its spot as the country’s No. 1 steel producer, reports the Business Standard newspaper.
According to the newspaper, the furnace start-up will round out a companywide expansion and modernization program that will take its annual crude steel capacity to nearly 21.5 million metric tons annually.
The new furnace, designated as No. 8, is at the steelmaker’s Bhilai steel plant.
