SAIL Says It Can Roll Rail in Record Lengths Now
01/23/2017 - The Steel Authority of India has put a new universal rail mil into service at its Bhilai facility, giving it the ability to produce single strands in lengths of up to 130 meters, reports The (India) Economic Times.
According to the newspaper, SAIL said no one else in the world can roll single strands of that length. The rails from the new mill also offer improved surface quality, less residual stress and improved straightness, the newspaper said.
The mill has a capacity of 2 million metric tons annually.
