SAIL, SMS group to Explore Decarbonization Solutions
08/09/2023 - India’s state-controlled steel producer Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has signed an initial deal with Germany’s SMS group as a step toward reducing carbon emissions across its five integrated plants.
Argus Media reports the two companies will explore “sustainable solutions for the long-term transformation of steel production, aiming to reducing carbon emissions across SAIL’s five integrated steel plants in the states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.”
The initial deal was signed on 3 August, according to Argus Media. The agreement reportedly aligns with India's 2070 goal of net-zero emissions.
