SAIL, Danieli Complete Performance Testing on Rebuilt BF
06/25/2020 - A rebuilt Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) blast furnace has passed its final performance test with flying colors, reports project contractor Danieli Corus.
In a statement, Danieli said the No. 1 furnace at SAIL’s Rourkela plant achieved a daily production rate of 3,415 metric tons of hot metal, surpassing the guaranteed rate of 2,700 metric tons daily. It also was the highest production rate achieved by the furnace since its blow-in in 2018, Danieli said.
Danieli said that with the rebuilt furnace, in combination with a greenfield furnace and an existing unit, the Rourkela plant has doubled its output from 1.7 million metric tons annually to 4 million metric tons.
