Ryerson Opens New Long Products Service Center in Houston

Ryerson Inc. has opened a new service center in Houston, Texas, that is completely devoted to the processing and distribution of long products.

Strategically located in Northwest Houston, the new facility will primarily serve the Oil & Gas Industry, an industry that Ryerson has made great strides in servicing over the past year. The company said the expansion will help to enhance its ability to further penetrate that market.

In addition to a comprehensive inventory of oil & gas-related products, the company said the new 50,000-square-foot facility also will house significantly expanded processing capabilities to allow for shortened lead times and excellent customer service.

"This further expansion just shows our complete commitment to both the Houston Market and the Oil & Gas Industry," said Alan Singleton, General Manager of the Houston Market.  "Our goal with the new facility is to not only provide superior customer service in the Houston area, but to also act as a hub as we spread the service of these products throughout the Southwest."

Opening of the new service center marks the company’s third major expansion in the Houston Market since 2010. Ryerson acquired Texas Steel Processing & SFI Gray Steel in 2010, and now has four locations servicing the Houston market including the current Ryerson distribution location in South Houston.

Ryerson Inc., a Platinum Equity company, is a leading distributor and processor of metals in North America and Asia. The company services customers through a network of service centers across the United States, Canada, Mexico and China.
