Ryerson Holding Expands Network Through Acquisition
08/05/2015 - Metals distributor and processor Ryerson Holding Corp. has acquired a service center specializing in bar and plate processing, the company announced on 4 August.
Ryerson did not provide details of the deal, but said that privately owned Southern Tool Steel brings to the table a diversified and transactional account base and grinding capabilities, in addition to its bar and plate processing services.
"STS brings extensive bar and plate processing capabilities to Ryerson, consistent with our focus on long products and value-added services," said Eddie Lehner, Ryerson's president and CEO in a statement. "Moreover, like our acquisition of Fay Industries announced in January 2015, we are joined by a company in STS that creates exceptional customer experiences in the southern U.S. market."
Based in Chattanooga, Tenn., Southern Tool Steel has two locations and about 90 employees. Its customer base includes machine and tool and die shops, energy providers, automotive manufacturers, appliance manufacturers and aerospace parts manufacturers.
