Ryerson Announces Major Expansion to Columbus Operation

Ryerson, a leading processor and distributor of metals in North America, with global operations in North America, China and Brazil, is pleased to announce a major renovation and expansion of its Columbus, Ohio, service center.

Ryerson Columbus' investment in state-of-the-art plate processing machinery will further expand its capacity and capabilities. Ryerson is adding part deburring and part blasting capabilities in addition to equipment that will support high definition plasma cutting, machining, drilling/tapping, surface milling and beveling. New laser measuring capabilities will ensure conformance to customers' ever-tightening quality requirements.

"This investment in Columbus, along with our ideal central location in the marketplace will allow us to better meet the needs of our customers for semi-fabricated products and finished parts," said Michael Burbach, President of Ryerson Midwest.

As an extensive plate processing center, Ryerson will be able to offer finished parts to customers located in the central Midwest through its rapid delivery logistics system.

The Ryerson Columbus expansion is on schedule to be completed in August 2012.
