Ryerson Announces Major Expansion of Little Rock Operations

Ryerson Inc. has announced a major renovation and expansion of its Little Rock, Ark., service center.
 
As part of the expansion, Ryerson is adding heavy plate leveling, straightening and forming equipment as well as shot-blasting capability. Ryerson is also investing in machinery that will support high-definition plasma cutting and the ability to drill, tap, machine and bevel in a single setup. New coordinate measuring machine and laser-scanning capabilities will ensure adherence to customers' stringent quality requirements.
 
The company said its investment in cutting-edge plate processing technologies at Little Rock will greatly enhance its plate capacity and capabilities. 
 
"This investment in Little Rock will place Ryerson at the forefront of plate processing capabilities in the region and allow us to meet the needs of our growing customer base," said John Crews, General Manager of Ryerson Little Rock.
 
As a comprehensive plate processing facility, Ryerson will be able to deliver finished parts through its existing integrated logistics network to customers throughout the Southwest U.S.
 
The company expects its expansion at Little Rock to be complete in March 2012, generating approximately 20 new jobs and bringing employment at the facility to 170 people.
