Ruukki Works to Minimize Impact of Strike on Deliveries

Ruukki reports that members of the Finnish Metalworkers’ Union, Finnish Electrical Workers’ Union and the trade union Pro went on strike last Friday, October 21, following a breakdown in collective bargaining negotiations between the unions and the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries.

The strike also affects functions in all of Ruukki’s business areas and corporate administration in Finland.

The company expressed apologies to its customers for possible delays caused by the strike. The company noted it will do everything within its power to ensure the continuity of customer deliveries and service during the strike.

Ruukki notes the strike is to end on Monday, November 7, 2011, unless a settlement is reached in the negotiations before then. In addition to Ruukki, the strike affects some 40 other companies in the country’s technology industry.
