Ruukki to Supply Panels for new Cadbury-Wedel Factory in Poland

Ruukki has been contracted to supply sandwich panels for a new Cadbury-Wedel confectionery factory building in Skarbimierz, southern Poland.

The process and warehouse building will have around 45,000 square meters of floor area. It will be constructed using 40,000 square meters of sandwich panels from Ruukki in the walls and ceiling structures. The sandwich panels — prefabricated elements with two steel sheet layers bonded to an inner insulation core between them — will be made at Ruukki's plant in Poland, Oborniki. Using the panels will help to significantly reduce construction time, and will also minimize the need for subcontracting work.

Ruukki's scope of supply includes project management, delivery, and installation. Ruukki will also deliver the necessary fastening and seal systems.

"This contract shows that devoting ourselves to construction system development brings benefits for our customers. We are constantly developing our project operations to be able to serve customers locally but with global know-how," said Jouni Metsämäki, SVP, Eastern Europe and CEE, Ruukki Construction.

Cadbury-Wedel is to commission the new plant in 2010.
