Ruukki to Reorganize Manufacturing Operations in Nordic Countries

Ruukki plans to improve the efficiency of its construction component manufacturing network by reorganizing production at the profiling plant in Anderslöv, Sweden. Ruukki will switch the production of its profiled building components from Anderslöv to other Ruukki units at Vimpeli in Finland and Zyrardow in Poland.

The company also plans to discontinue color-coating line operations at the Anderslöv site and to provide similar services from other Ruukki units in the future. The production of studs and subcontracted products used in building construction will continue in Anderslöv.

Employer-employee negotiations regarding a possible workforce reduction are under way at the Anderslöv plant. A total of around 120 persons are affected by the negotiations; Ruukki estimates a workforce reduction of about 60 persons.

"We are developing operations in pursuit of permanent improvements and greater profitability. We are improving the efficiency of our construction business by centralizing production on our larger units. This will enable us to also serve customers more effectively than earlier and in turn strengthen our market position in the Nordic countries. Regrettably, these actions will also mean job losses," said Sami Eronen, SVP, Northern Europe and Infrastructure, Ruukki Construction.

Ruukki has around 450 employees in Sweden.
