Ruukki to Initiate Negotiations for Temporary Layoffs in Corporate Functions

Rautaruukki has announced plans to commence employer-employee negotiations for temporary layoffs across a range of corporate functions.
 
The negotiations concern the possible layoff of salaried and senior salaried employees working in a range of corporate functions. A total of around 410 employees will be affected.
 
Rautaruukki said it plans to implement the layoffs as soon as possible, during this year at the latest. While the duration of the layoffs has not yet been defined, the company said the length would become clear as negotiations progress.
 
Ruukki recently announced negotiations for temporary layoffs of about 340 salaried employees in its Ruukki Metals division, and concluded negotiations for workforce reductions and temporary layoffs affecting about 150 employees in its Ruukki Construction division.
 
Rautaruukki supplies metal-based components, systems and integrated systems to the construction and engineering industries, offering a wide selection of metal products and services. Rautaruukki has operations in 26 countries, employs 14,300 people, and reported net sales of EUR 3.9 billion in 2008. The corporation uses the marketing name Ruukki.
