Ruukki Joins Nordic Sustainable Building Program

Ruukki has signed the Nordic Built Charter, which is committed to a sustainable built environment. The program aims to complete joint Nordic projects as three separate modules during 2013-2014. The end result will create sustainable building concepts for new and renovation construction.

"When the leading actors in the industry commit themselves to the same goals, it’s easier to achieve a change for the better and to benefit all parties. We can identify with the principles of the Charter which are in keeping with our values, brand and strategy. I believe that Nordic teamwork will enable us to innovate competitive, sustainable solutions for increasingly more energy-efficient construction," says Petteri Lautso, Director, Sustainability and Architecture, at Ruukki.

Currently 14 real estate and construction industry organisations operating in Finland have joined Nord Built: Bionova Consulting, Buildercom Oy, Granlund Oy, Nordea Bank Plc, Pöyry, Rautaruukki Corporation, RYM Oy, Skanska, SPU Oy, Senate Properties, Uponor, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, YIT Corporation and 360 REM Oy.

Based in Helsinki, Finland, Rautaruukki (Ruukki) provides its customers with energy-efficient steel solutions for better living, working and moving. It has 11,800 employees in some 30 countries, including the Nordic countries, the Baltics, Russia, Ukraine and Central Eastern Europe.
