Russian Steelmaker Unveils New High-Tech Heat Treatment Facility

The new facility at the company’s Ural Steel plant, featuring equipment supplied by Tenova LOI Thermprocess, has upped the plant’s capacity to 30.7 metric tons per hour, according to a company press release. The plant expects to triple its production of heat-treated heavy plate in 10 years and increase its output of steel for bridge construction by 39%. The new technology will also help to improve quality and uniformity in heat treating and cooling.

“This new high-tech facility will strengthen the Company’s position in the market for heat-treated rolled products,” said Metalloinvest chief executive Andrey Varichev.
