Rio Tinto Reports Rail incident at Cape Lambert

Rio Tinto Iron Ore reported that an incident occurred at one of its rail car dumpers at Cape Lambert on August 31, 2008. The incident damaged the dumper and resulted in partial suspension of iron ore unloading activities at Cape Lambert.
Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries.
The damaged dumper is one of five operated by Rio Tinto Iron Ore in the Pilbara. The company is currently assessing the situation to determine how quickly it can be returned to operation. While the damage assessment and repair program is underway, the company will adjust rail and shipping schedules to minimize any capacity loss.
The company has advised its customers of the incident under its force majeure provisions.
