Rio Tinto Chairman-Elect Resigns from Boards

Rio Tinto announced that non-executive Director Jim Leng has resigned from the Boards and will no longer become Chairman of the Boards in April as previously announced. Leng’s resignation is effective immediately.
 
The company said it has already commenced the process to appoint a new Chairman, and expects to be ready to appoint a successor by mid-2009.
 
At the request of the Boards, Rio Tinto's current Chairman, Paul Skinner, has agreed to remain as Chairman through the interim.
