RH-TOP Unit from SMS Mevac Commissioned at Shougang Qian’An
05/25/2010 - Shougang Qian’An Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., China, successfully commissioned the fourth duplex RH-TOP unit made by SMS Mevac. The new unit will mainly be used for the production of vacuum-treated automotive steel grades as well as silicon steels.
Shougang Qian’An Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., China, successfully commissioned the fourth duplex RH-TOP unit made by German company SMS Mevac.
The unit is designed to treat heats with a nominal weight of 210 tonnes and consists of a duplex unit with two treatment positions. Each treatment position is equipped with a hydraulic ladle lifting system, a metallurgical TOP lance, and a vacuum lock system for the charging of alloying materials.
The vacuum is achieved using a four-stage steam-ejector vacuum pump with variable pressure reduction rate for optimized process control.
The new unit will mainly be used for the production of vacuum-treated automotive steel grades as well as silicon steels.
The scope included the complete basic engineering, parts of detail engineering, delivery of key components, complete hardware and software for the process computer, training of customer’s personnel, and supervision of erection and commissioning.
