RG Steel Announces Executive Appointments
04/13/2011 - RG Steel President and CEO V. John Goodwin announced four key executive appointments including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Chief Operating Officer.
RG Steel, LLC President and CEO V. John Goodwin announced four key executive appointments including Richard D. Caruso as Chief Financial Officer; David A. Howard as Chief Commercial Officer; David A. Pryzbylski as Chief Administrative Officer; and Mark D. Whalen as Chief Operating Officer.
Richard D. Caruso has 25 years of financial and strategic leadership experience in a variety of industries including steel, aluminum, copper, iron foundries and manufacturing. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer for two privately held aluminum companies and has been instrumental in debt refinancing, improvements in financial results, trade supplier relationships and various strategic initiatives. He most recently served as Managing Director of Huron Consulting Group in New York City where he provided financial and operating restructuring services to manufacturing companies including Neenah Foundry Co. where he served as interim Chief Executive Officer.
Caruso holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has worked as a Certified Public Accountant.
David A. Howard has 30 years of commercial, sales, customer support and operations management experience in the steel industry. He worked for a number of years with the Warren plant and, after it was purchased by Severstal North America, he became Vice President of Corporate Planning for Severstal and later Vice President and General Manager of Sparrows Point, his most recent position.
Howard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Grove City College.
David A. Pryzbylski has 30 years of diversified experience in the steel, aluminum and mining industries. He has experience in human resource management, strategic planning, and corporate governance and legal affairs.
After 15 years with U.S. Steel, he served as Senior Vice President of Administration and Corporate Secretary for National Steel. He has also served as Executive Vice President and then as President and CEO at Beta Steel and as Vice President of Corporate Administration at Esmark in Wheeling, W.Va. Most recently, Pryzbylski provided consulting and advisory services to clients in steel, mining, manufacturing and investment banking.
Pryzbylski holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and a Juris Doctorate from Temple University School of Law.
Mark Whalen has 20 years in the steel industry, including experience as a research engineer, as consultant and in operations management. At AK Steel he worked as a Research Engineer before entering operations management. Whalen joined U.S. Steel Corp. in 2000 during acquisition of the plant in Kosice, Slovakia, where has responsible for the primary operations. He subsequently was General Manager of operations at both U.S. Steel’s Fairfield Works and Mon Valley Works. He joined ArcelorMittal in 2007 as Vice President with responsibility for Indiana Harbor, I/N Tek and I/N Kote, and Minorca.
Whalen holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech (Bachelor of Science) and Pennsylvania State University (Master of Science and PhD).
