Resonac Finalizes Acquisition of AMI Automation

Resonac (then Showa Denko) purchased the initial 50% share of AMI Automation from Mexico-based AMI Group in 2021.
 
“The acquisition of AMI will allow Resonac Graphite to contribute to our customers’ sustainable operations by providing an integrated set of innovative solutions that assist customers in their best overall steelmaking performance,” remarked Tim Saxon, Resonac Graphite’s chief marketing officer, in an official statement.
 
In tandem with the purchase announcement, Resonac revealed a new management team for AMI. Resonac Graphite Business Unit president and chief executive Makoto Takeda will take the reins as chairman of the AMI management committee. Bernardo Sainz will serve as president and chief executive of AMI Automation in addition to his duties leading AMI’s Industrial Systems Division. Finally, Carlos de los Santos, who leads AMI’s Meltshop Solutions division, will now also serve as vice president.
