Residents Evacuated as Decommissioned Mill Continues to Burn

11/10/2016 - A state of emergency was declared Thursday for Lackawanna, N.Y., where a fire that began Wednesday morning at a former Bethlehem Steel Corp. mill was still burning, according to The Buffalo News.

The newspaper said 300 homes to the north of the sprawling plant were evacuated and schools in the area were closed on public health concerns arising from drifting smoke.
