Research Team Makes Breakthrough in Ironmaking Technology
12/09/2024 - A Chinese research team reportedly has developed a flash ironmaking technology that can reduce ore iron within seconds rather than hours and works exceptionally well with lower-grade feedstocks.
According to the South China Morning Post, the team, at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, developed the technology following more than 10 years of research. The method injects finely ground iron ore powder into a very hot furnace, causing an "explosive chemical reaction,” according to the newspaper.
