Republic Names Lorain Plant Manager
March 2, 2004 — Republic Engineered Products Inc. announced that it has appointed Gregory M. Paolini as Manager at its Lorain plant, the company's largest facility. He is replacing James Kuntz who is retiring this May.
Paolini had been General Manager of International Steel Group's plant in Lackawanna, N.Y. Prior to ISG's acquisition of Bethlehem Steel, Paolini was employed by Bethlehem Steel for 24 years, serving in a number of capacities in Burns Harbor, Ind., and Lackawanna, including Superintendent and Division Manager of the Galvanized Products Division in Lackawanna.
"Greg has a broad range of experience and success in integrated steel manufacturing," said Joseph F. Lapinsky, Republic's President and CEO. "In addition to his active involvement in the successful transition of Bethlehem to ISG, Greg has contributed to new development and improvements in quality and environmental management systems. He is a welcome addition to Republic. We also want to wish Jim the best as he begins his retirement, and thank him for his contributions to our business during his time with us."
Among Paolini's other achievements at Bethlehem and ISG were his revision of material flow design and significant reduction of operating costs.
"Greg's skills in so many areas will be especially helpful for the continuing improved performance of our Lorain plant," said Noel J. Huettich, Republic's Vice President—Corporate Operations.
Paolini holds a bachelor of arts degree from Canisius College, Buffalo, N.Y.
